Founders and Board

Lonny Sargent, Founder & Board Member

Lonny began coaching in 1988 at Warner Pacific College, his alma mater. Attending school to become a teacher he was drawn to softball and chose it as his career. After helping lead Warner Pacific, Lonny coached at the high school level for three years.

Starting in 1996 Lonny began coaching at Mt. Hood Community College. His desire to be a Division I coach led him to be an assistant at Troy University for one year before heading back west to be closer to family. He spent three years at Utah State University as an assistant and Head Coach. Although the Utah State program had many accomplishments on the field Lonny was most proud of the bond he formed and the impact his team had on one young softball player-- Lexie.

Lonny's passion and big heart have led him to create the Softball Cares. He hopes his love of coaching and softball plus his experience fund-raising will help make an impact on all those in need.

Erin McDonough, Founder & Board Member

Erin has been playing softball since the 5th grade. The impact her high school coach had on her and her teammates inspired her to one day become a coach. After graduating from college, where she played at the Division II level, Erin began working in development for the Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. It was during her four years there that Erin was given the opportunity to coach at the Division III level. Erin left coaching to pursue a career in athletic administration. She has stayed around the game by giving private lessons, working at camps and clinics and attending as many games as possible.

She is so thankful to have met Lexie and her family and be able to start the Softball Cares with Lonny. She is most excited Softball Cares will combine her passion for softball and knowledge of development to make the difference in the lives of people like Lexie.

Todd Bradley, Board Member

Todd's softball coaching career began at his alma maters Blue Mountain Community College and Western Baptist both in Oregon. He spent two years with Lonny at Utah State University where he met Lexie. Todd went on to Pfeiffer University in North Carolina where as head coach he made giving back part of the culture of the softball program. In 2010, he has brought that same passion for supporting the community to his new program at the University of the Incarnate Word. He brings many talents to the board.
